| Note | SPECIAL SALE – MASTERPIECES OF THE JES COLLECTION: One of the LARGEST and FINEST specimens ever collected of an extremely rare variant of the GIANT Muiron Islands form. The specimen is of the rare, now possibly extinct ‘oceanic’ form – exceedingly large, and incredibly solid and heavy, with broad, convex ventrum – only found during the early days of deep-diving at this locality. This rare variety resembles a ‘black top’ GIANT DELICATURA, with dorsal maculae so dark, prolific, and coalescent as to produce a near uniform ultra-dark dorsum, save the presence of a mantle line in rich honey-gold. Exceptional quality – rare PERFECTION. In addition to its rarity and quality, the specimen was collected by legendary Zoila diver Andrew Edinger, and the original 1995 Edinger label accompanies the specimen – an important value-added aspect. A very SPECIAL eludens for the most advanced Zoila connoisseur. Data: Off western coast of North Muiron Island, Muiron Islands, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand/gravel-covered limestone reef substrate, upon sponge, (Suberites sp.); 28 m; dived; June 1995. Size: 66.5 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
