Zoila venusta bakeri - Big Deep Water Baker !!! , (Gatliff, 1916)
Size
76.5 mm
Locality
Geraldton, WA
Note
Collector's may have noticed we recently posted a truly impressive bakeri on FaceBook. It was one of two we found on that voyage. The specimen offered is the second that we collected. While it's not of the caliber of the first shell, it is still a very impressive venusta. Found sitting in a round beige open funnel sponge in 205 metres of water west of Geraldton in October 2026. A soft apricot pink coloured shell with a cream base and peachy margins. Very heavy mature shell with prominent siphons with gold trim. Graded Fine++/Fine+++ due to a small well healed dorsal tooth scrape near the anterior siphon and minor inclusions in labial side nacre and some minor nacre windowing as indicated by the green arrows in the photos.
