| Note | LOTTIIDAE - Lottia stanfordiana (Berry, 1957). GIANT GREEN-BLUISH VENTRAL SIDE WOOOOW!! Seldom seen Giant sizes with intact ventral conditions and lip. The ventral is coming between white-brown in the middle and changing to bluish-green coloration. The dorsum displays abundant erosion as usual for this rough species, living on rocks directly in the sunlight. The pattern still remarkable around the lip sides between white stripes-brown ring color and Green coloration around. Intact lip, ventral side and erosion on top, F+++-F++. Giant with 27.2mm. Apparently feeding on the marine soup that comes and goes with the currents, waves and seaweeds in stones, this species lives where the waves break in the intertidal zone around the coastline. Really hard to remove from stones without braking them. Found attached to the rocks with green and brown algae at extremely low tide between strong big waves. El Laboratorio, 3km north from Cuastecomates, Jalisco, Mexico. August 2026. Estimated value between 22-25 euro. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC |
