|
| Item | # 0004316579 | | Family | Muricidae | | Name | Hexaplex princeps - HURRICANE SPIRE WOOOOOW! , (Broderip, 1833) |
| Size | 82.1 mm, w/o |
| Locality | Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mex. |
| Note | HURRICANE SPIRE WOOOOOOW!! Normally the shoulder spines are longer in the lip side going to the spire, This specimen is inverted, with the shortest spines starting at the lip, continuing along the shoulder with medium-length spines, and at the spire, the spines are extremely long and incredibly, exaggeratedly curved. The effect looking from the apex side is really unique like a "HURRICANE" . Great spines all around, White color form with some black-brown banding form around the shoulder. Light erosion between and micro natural imperfections not really detracting this beauty. F+++-F++. This species is common in Mexico. Open sea Hexaplex princeps are generally 99.9% completely ugly with classic and usually dense erosion, missing spines all around, dense-deep large drill holes, no coloration or pattern, and thick calcareous organisms attached all around them almost impossible to remove, that is the common Hexaplex princeps. However, on very rare occasions and in very enclosed bays or lagoon mouths that are open to the sea, there are individuals with great condition, but finding them is always a mystery and really hard, believe me. With my years of experience and luck, I know of some places where they sometimes appear in ideal and striking conditions after many hours of work. Here I present this unique and unusual top selection for the species, choose your favorite in this great auction. For any MURICIDAE lovers of aesthetics and advancer collectors. Found attached on, under and between large muddy stones with oysters and mussels about 5m- 8m deep. Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. September 2026. Estimated value between 35-45 euros. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC |
