| Item | # 0004308320 |
| Family | Volutidae |
| Name | Melo amphora f. armata - SUPERB AND RARE , Lamarck, 1811 |
| Size | 196 mm |
| Locality | Indonesia |
| Note | AN "ASIAN" AMPHORA, CALLED ARMATA FORM. F++. What we have here is a not so big amphora with a superb chocolate coloration all over, set in long streaks of alternating dark brown with cream interspaces and flecks, covered with two horizontal broad darker bands. This results in a superb Melo, seldom seen. The lip has been smoothed, but this is the case in 98% of the amphora in collections, and this shell comes from a old Dutch collection. Interesting Volute, full of charm and a pleasing size. For the display. Indonesia. Offshore Timor. #1223520 |
