NoteVery large heavy flared shell with vivid orange base. Found in June 2026 tucked under a geodia sponge in 88 metres of water west of Dirk Hartog Island off Shark Bay. A truly magnificent specimen that has unfortunately been bitten by a fish or sting ray. This has resulted in a crush injury in its columnar side. This has been completely healed by the animal solidifying and infilling the injury with new nacre. Even so it is a very impressive lutea.
