| Note | Smaller diluculum form characterized by the complete absence of dark basal spots and terminal spots or blotching. Pyriform/ovate specimen with excellent gloss, perfect extremities and base. The shell features chestnut brown parallel transverse bands and soft zigzag bands exclusive to this particular subspecies. Specimens from this atoll are few and far between as Diego Garcia is a restricted and highly classified, joint United States and United Kingdom military base. It has been closed to the public since the 1970s. Collected by free diver and commander Ed Maccubbin at 4-5 meters under coral rubble in the lagoon of Diego Garcia atoll, Chagos Archipelago in 4/1979.
