| Note | Superb smaller sized example of a hard to find endemic California murex. The specimen shows six prominent and strongly reflected ochre/brown varices with a eggshell white body hue. The shell displays a perfect aperture lip, moderately large fusoid body whorl with intricate fimbriate varices and upturned spines. Collected by Scuba diver Paul Kanner off the Horseshoe Kelp, proximal to Long Beach Harbor, California at 20-24 meters on rocks in the mid-90's. The specimen shows erosion of the protoconch and a shallow chip on the siphonal canal terminus. Grade: F+++. |
