| Note | Lovely albinistic specimen with broad foliaceous wings, moderate weight and exceptional appearance. Amazing condition for a murex shell from the turbulent surf zone on the central California coast. The shell has an intact spire, perfect anterior siphonal canal and aperture lip. Collected by Scuba diver at 14-15 meters on reef rocks and sandy/rubble substrate between kelp forests off the Channel Islands, California in 2018. The specimen does exhibit a worn/absent protoconch and some wear, pitting minor abrasion on the trailing varix. Grade: F++/F+++. |
