Note

An atypically large inflated and strongly pigmented specimen with excellent dorsal blotching, notable inflation and a sharp semi-circular blue halo accentuating this colorful specimen from the west coast of Australia. The shell is highlighted by a deep glowing nacre, sharp and thick contoured extremity margins with beautiful spotting on both cream sandy and caramel tan lateral walls. The extremity tips are pigmented with chocolate brown/black and fringed with remarkable pastel peach hues. The specimen also displays a gleaming ink black/brown base tinted with two bluish streaks on the columellar side. The praeclara was taken from a sponge nested on sand/rock substrate by a ROV at 77 meters off Kalbarri, Western Australia in 2023. The specimen exhibits a sliver thin shallow chip on the labral internal channel extreminty tip, another self-galzed mini-shallow chip on the columellar exterior tip (white spot in image) and minute smooth glazed subnacre bemishes (mico blisters) on thel labral posterior dorsum above the lateral wall. Grade: F++.
