The Philippine form possesses an elegance lacking in examples from all other localities, along with a finer shell, and a more beautiful colour. The species is far rarer in the Philippines than in the China Sea. Exceptional quality – virtual perfection. Retention of the exceedingly delicate caramel PROTOCONCH, lost upon virtually all examples. No longer freshly collected. Family: Raphitomidae. Data: Bohol Sea, off Panglao, Bohol, Central Visayas, Visayas, Philippines; upon mud/sand substrate; 100-200 m; tangle nets; 2006. Size: 81.5 mm. Grading: Gem.
