Rarely can we say that a murex is truly ‘Gem’, but the level of preservation of this incredible specimen is remarkable, with every minute ultra-delicate varical frond termination intact. Rare retention of the extremely delicate, pin-point pink protoconch. Atypically expansive varical structure. Extremely rich colour. Perfectly clean, with no encrustation. In a different league to the majority of specimens. Definitely for the advanced Muricidae specialist, or admirer of truly exquisite seashells. Data: Off Dasalan, Basilan, Sulu Archipelago, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Peninsula, Mindanao, Philippines; upon sand/mud substrate; 100-200 m; tangle nets; 2006. Size: 61.2 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o.
