| Item | # 0004233789 | | Family | Volutidae | | Name | Livonia roadnightae - Rare WA specimen! , (F. McCoy, 1881) |
| Size | 132.6 mm |
| Locality | Rottnest Island, West Australia |
| Note | Very rare dwarf Western Australian specimen from the Rottnest Island population. This isolated population is the furthest west this species is known, and is characterised by its small, thick and robust shells. Typically taken as bycatch in lobster pots, in recent years the WA Fisheries has introduced stricter regulations banning the taking of shells as bycatch, making these specimens very difficult to acquire now. Crabbed in cray pot at 60-80m, north of Rottnest Island, WA. Good condition, with lip completely intact, however there is a chip on the columella plaits in the aperture of the shell, presumably from the crabs usage, F++ |
