NoteOne nice specimen of the recently described and very rare deep water (404-409 m depth) species Astyris atacamensis (Araya, Catalán & Aliaga, 2016). This is a typical specimen collected from the type locality, from the original batch from which the species was described (topotype). All of the specimens in this new species lack the protoconch and first whorls, as they decollate and seal them while living. This specimen is conserved dry with the soft parts and operculum still inside. There are no other records of this species and it has been found only during its description.
