| Note | VENERIDAE - Irus ellipticus (Sowerby, 1834). SPECTACULAR UNCOMMON SPECIES!! This uncommon species shells are thin, and vary in outline from elliptical to quadrate. Both valves are equal in size and shape (equivalve). The shell’s exterior is sculpted with numerous coarse radial ribs, and raised concentric ridges (lamellae). The exterior of the shell varies in color from rose, to tan, to white, sometimes with brown maculations. The interior is tan to white, with brown blotches at both ends. This displays some scales formations between and dark brown inner valves color form. Extraordinary beautiful specimen. For advancer collectors and lover of rarity's. F+++. Found exposed in muddy and granulate thick sand between stones about 4-5m deep. Escollera El Eden, Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. July 2026.
