An OUTSTANDING specimen of the seldom offered ERITREA FORM, exhibting a pattern of particular beauty: broad spiral bands of ultra-dark espresso, reading as black. Fully mature at this diminutive size, the specimen may represent a male, or a geographically restricted small form. RARE LOCALITY, from which no specimens are likely to be available in the foreseeable future. Definitely for the Strombidae specialist, or admirer of truly exquisite seashells. Data: Gulf of Zula, off Massawa, Northern Red Sea region, Eritrea; upon sand/rubble substrate; 5 m; dived; 1989. Size: 32.8 mm. Grading: Gem; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
