| Family | Muricidae |
| Name | Chicoreus cervicornis - NEW DEEP-WATER FORM , Lamarck, 1822 |
| Size | 61.1 mm, w/o |
| Locality | Australia |
| Note | Collected just a few weeks ago, this MAGNIFICENT large specimen is from a NEW deep-water locality. Spectacular and different varical / frond morphology to the intertidal form. Minor varical loss, resulting from its deep-water habitat amongst rubble, but overall exemplary quality. It is possible that no further specimens will ever be collected from this deep-water locality, and thus, this represents a potentially unique opportunity for an advanced Muricidae specialist. Data: Off western coast of Dirk Hartog Island, Gascoyne Region, Western Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate, amongst sponges/rubble; 85 m; R.O.V.; June 2026. Size: 61.1 mm (longest dimension). Grading: Fine++; w/o (minor natural roughening to anterior terminals). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
