| Note | A MAGNIFICENT GIANT specimen of the uncommon and rarely offered SAO TOME form. ULTRA-RICH COLOUR, in conjunction with a supremely well-formed, bold and dramatic PATTERN of the highest aesthetic merit. Exemplary quality for such enormous size – typical very minor issues associated with such old age giants, but, remarkably, with a PERFECT pin-point protoconch. Typical minor fraying to ultra-delicate, markedly upturned and recurved siphonal canal, left in its NATURAL state, with no artificial smoothing – very important for the connoisseur. RARE LOCALITY. For the Cassidae specialist, or collector of giant-sized shells. Data: Off Praia Gamboa, Sao Tome, Sao Tome and Principe; upon sand/mud substrate; 6-8 m; dived; April 2007. Size: c. 180 mm.
