| Note | A superb REPRESENTATIVE specimen of this extremely RARE, and now highly coveted subspecies, from the ‘old days’ of availability. ULTRA-RICH COLOUR: orangish cinnamon ground, traversed by two narrow spiral bands of pinkish cinnamon; rich cinnamon margins; dark espresso accents at the terminals. Not freshly collected for decades, and now almost impossible to obtain, coming only from choice old collections. Not ‘Gem’, but an example for a collection lacking this almost impossible to obtain subspecies. Data: Off Hummock Point, Ascension Island, Saint Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha; upon reef substrate, under slab; 22 m; 1991. Size: 33 mm. Grading: Fine+ (one tiny predatory mark, and a little discoloration to ventrum). Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
