| Family | Bursidae |
| Name | Lampasopsis thomae , (A. d'Orbigny, 1853) |
| Size | 23 - 34 mm |
| Locality | Fortunate Isles of Macaronesia |
| Note | Remote west coast of Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Spain. Boulder-field and reef habitat at 6–20 m depth; collected by a local diver, February 2024. Set of 15 specimens ranging from 23–34 mm in shell length. Fresh dead-collected material, comprising a representative size series of this uncommon eastern Atlantic and Caribbean bursid. Shells generally well preserved, with lustrous apertures and marginal lips remaining in good condition throughout the series. Several specimens retain very light natural calcareous encrustations and traces of periostracum on the exterior body whorl, while others are comparatively clean. Colouration ranges from pale cream and beige to warm orange-brown tones, with the characteristic variceal sculpture and expanded outer lip well expressed in most specimens. No worn examples present. Overall, an attractive and unusually fresh reference series documenting intraspecific variation within a species only infrequently encountered by local divers in the Canary Islands. |
