PIPUS IN THREE. In March 2012 we were offered a box of about 20 large Lentigo pipus. This Strombus is found in numbers in the algae fields along the coast of northern Bohol, usually below 18 m deep. Pieces from over 60 mm are uncommon: most measure around 54 mm and there are also communities of dwarf forms. We chose the best from the box in three fascinating colors of the glossy base: from almost white, to white with an intricating pattern, and going to dark brown with shades of violet. The extremes are fantastic, the sizes impressive. Left to Right = 68.4 mm, 66.2 mm, 68.7 mm. Philippines. Caubian Reef, west coast. 15-25 m. 2012. #681061
