| Family | Mitridae |
| Name | Cancilla gloriola - RARE QUEENSLAND GIANT , Cernohorsky, 1970 |
| Size | 60.8 mm |
| Locality | Australia |
| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL and exceedingly beautiful GIANT of the seldom offered Queensland form. The species is rare in Queensland waters. VERY RARE LOCALITY – a diminutive granite island of only 0.51 sq. km, now protected, with no fresh specimens being available in future. Exceedingly few shells have ever been collected from this locality – no doubt a factor contributing to the advanced size of the current specimen. RARE QUALITY – PERFECTION. One of the most beautiful of all mitres when seen like this. Data: North Direction Island, Lizard, Queensland, Australia; upon coarse coral sand substrate; 2-3 m; dived; 1986. Size: 60.8 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
