A species very adaptable to all types of conditions from deep waters to populations at low tide exposed to the sun light. They usually like shallow and turbid waters rich in nutrients and in estuarine areas with mangroves or where oysters, mussels, Calyptraeidae species and chamas are abundant, which is their main food, they are sea scavenger and I have even found it eating dead fishes between the rocks.
