| Note | F++ Mega giant size specimen with complete spines fully preserved. By far this is the biggest one I have ever seen. Unfortunately it suffered cracks (see green arrow) during trawling but the affected area was carefully reinstate with light glue. The test of this deep water species is thin and easily broken during trawling. Trawled by fishing boat in 150-200m deep, 20 Dec 2007. This is the biggest specimen I ever seen and handled. Although it has defect, but it is difficult to notice with the spines on it. Still a great specimen for urchin collector missing this species in your collection or missing a huge one preserved with complete spines. |
