An OUTSTANDING specimen of this singular living fossil – the only extant member of its family – selected from amongst several obtained during the ‘old days’ of availability. RARE QUALITY, with no erosion, encrustation, nor predation marks. Hypermature: very solid and heavy for size. Retention of original operculum. The locality is now protected under the Ngari Capes Marine Park, and no fresh specimens will be available in future. Family: Campanilidae. Data: Off Canal Rocks, Smith’s Beach, Yallingup, South-West Region, Western Australia, Australia; upon coarse sand/mud substrate, amongst seagrass; 8 m; dived; 1988. Size: 142.6 mm. Grading: Fine+++; w/o. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
