Eucidaris thouarsii, commonly known as the slate pencil urchin or erizo punta de lápiz, is a species of cidaroid sea urchin native to the shallow littoral regions of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. It is easily recognized by its thick, blunt primary spines that resemble the slate pencils used in the past. Found in mud between stones about 7m deep, Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. March 2026.
