Note
In January 2026 we returned from an adventure to the Great Australian Bight. This involves a round trip of 800 kilometers. We were fortunate to get three days of good weather and spend a couple of days in the Western Great Australian Bight. We found this live marginata on an orange sponge in 82 metres of water in the very western portion of the Great Australian Bight east of Israelite bay. It is free from any growth defect but unfortunately both siphons have been broken and re-healed by the animal. Originally these specimens from the Western Great Australian Bight were described as gabensis. In my view type orientalis is the most difficult marginata form to acquire. I consider it fits well as a gabensis / orientalis orientalis.
