| Note | An exceptional specimen, from a RARE LOCALITY, collected over forty years ago, during the ‘old days’ of Papua New Guinean availability. Impeccably curated, with as fresh an appearance as if collected this year. Atypically beautiful colour – the ground is neither greenish, nor bluish, but a beautiful pale GREY – with rich caramel-ochre dorsal maculations. Characteristic white ventrum and dentition, and attentuated anterior terminal. Hypermature, with well-developed marginal periphery, and ultra-developed, coarse dentition. Now extremely difficult to obtain from Papua New Guinea, and never offered from this rare locality. An exquisite specimen for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist interested in rare locality variants. Data: Off Rambuso, Vanatinai, Vanatinai Islands, Louisiade Archipelago, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea; upon coral reef substrate, under coral slab; 1-6 m; dived; 1984. Size: 26.8 mm.
