| Note | An OUTSTANDING large specimen of the uncommon ‘BLACK’ variety of the South Australian form of this endemic south-eastern Australian species. In actuality, the shell is a rich espresso, which, in the current specimen, is of an atypically dark shade. Glossy ivory aperture. EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY for the species and habitat, with well-preserved varices and siphonal canal, and intact mammillate protoconch. Ultra-clean, with no encrustation. Very difficult to obtain like this now. Data: Off High Cliff, Streaky Bay, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, Australia; upon rock reef substrate, under ledge, amongst seaweed and algae, at extreme seasonal low tide; 1994. Size: 56.6 mm.
