| Note | An OUTSTANDING, very RARE, virtually PATTERNLESS MALE specimen of the beautiful deep-water South Australian form. Vestiges of the typical pattern of zigzag axial lines are present only upon the penultimate whorl, with the remainder of the shell exhibiting varying beautiful shades of lemon and ivory, with a distinct pure white register below the suture. Hypermature, with marked weight and solidity. RARE QUALITY, with PERFECT apertural lip and siphonal canal. Not freshly collected for decades, and now obtainable only from choice old collections. Data: Great Australian Bight, off Ceduna, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 100-160 m; trawled; 1999. Size: 126.4 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
