| Note | This one is only the sixth known specimen, and the first one ever described with photographs (by Houart in 2023)! The others were in fact were described by Verrill in the 1950's, based on drawings! This specimen comes from Prince Chigi's collection. He collected it while diving in the Caribbean in the '70's, along with several Conus dominicanus. Good quality for this old rare shell, that still contains the dried mollusk inside, complete with operculum. The full article by Petuch is available. |
