| Note | THE SMALLEST ADULT EVER FOUND - THE REAL DWARF !!! Unbelievable DWARF special Cypraecassis coarctata with fully adult conditions and crazy thick massive lip for the size. With 25.8mm this is one of the smallest ever found with superb live collected conditions and ultra rare original operculum. Elegant pattern with superb dark coloration and several micro white spotted bands all around making a great effect. Complete lip, siphon and apex . The ventral side shows a superb elegant orange color form in the anterior outer lip, colossal thick lip with multiple glossy denticles and deep fresh orange-white background color. F+++. These mysterious species are usually buried under the granular sand in the coastal zone, between 1m to 15m deep, but they are usually in muddy areas where there are sea urchins to feed on them, which is what they like the most. But they are nocturnal and are rarely seen hunting during the day. Some are 1cm under the sand but in extreme cases and growth I have found them up to 30cm under the granulate sand. The incredible bright orange animal with bright colors makes you think they are dangerous. I consider this species to be uncommon after so many years of searching for them in their territory. They are also solitary, which makes them more difficult to find, especially when they are buried, resting or growing. Found buried 5cm in muddy sand between big muddy stones about 4m deep. Isla Toriz, Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico. January 2026.
