Two nice and very nice and selected specimens of the very common little mytilid Perumytilus purpuratus, including a giant specimen (40 mm) and a normal specimen (34 mm). These specimens were collected washed ashore fresh dead among coarse sand in a rocky beach at northern Chile. This species is almost never found in nice condition, as they live in the intertidal with high energy and they usually have shells very worn and eroded. I selected a very large specimen and two normal-sized specimens.
