| Note | This spectacular GIANT establishes a NEW WORLD RECORD SIZE for the species, the current official WRS being 43.7 mm. In addition to its importance and desirability as a WRS example, the specimen exhibits exquisite subtle colour – lemon, tinged with apricot and pink – and comes from an extremely rare locality – a remote area in the northern region of Aruba. One of the most beautiful and impressive coral shells I have ever encountered. Definitely for the Coralliophila specialist, or collector of giant-sized shells. Data: Off Urirama, Noord, Aruba; upon reef substrate, in coral, at night; 22 m; 1999. Size: 44.8 mm. Grading: Fine++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
