| Note | Outstanding large fusoid specimen of exceptional size and remarkable form and symmetry. The shell is characterized by a high spire, porcelain white aperture and flawless anterior siphonal canal. The shell displays deep shades of sepia, russet and buff brown. The spiral body whorl and varices display multiple cords with intensely frilled varices. The winged varices are expanded compared to most specimens and the impact of this trophy shell is large. The shell was collected on sand/mud/rubble flats off Dampier Beach, Western Australia at low tide in 1974. Aquired from older collection. The shell is hard to flaw, but does demonstrate a few areas of encrusting growth, probably from Bryozoan hitchhikers . Grade: F+++/GEM. |
