| Item | # 0003978158 |
| Family | Volutidae |
| Name | Scaphella junonia - CLASSIC PATTERN , Lamarck, J.B.P. 1804 |
| Size | 132.1 mm |
| Locality | Jupiter, Florida |
| Note | Extraordinarily larger than normal for the species with a classic pattern. Beautiful spotting with super dark/strong color and markings. The white/peach hued primary body whorl color accentuates the symmetrical dark and striking geometric pattern of the axial rounded square and rectangle based spots. The shell shows an intact protoconch and spire. Scuba diver located and dead collected in sand off Jupiter, Florida, USA in the mid-80's. There is present a long growth fold disruption on the dorsum, toward the lip and heavy pitting, erosion and perforation on the mid-ventral surface as seen in images. Minor roughness evident on the anterior lip and siphonal notch which have been shaved along with most of the edge (filed). The shell would look pretty good face down in any collection. Grade: Decent. |
