NoteRUFINISTIC (GOLD).....Two rare distinguishing attributes together : 1) The elusive armeniaca form of venusta episema illustrated in Lorenz’s books (explained at the conclusion); and 2) Frosted-gold margins & canal saddles, and a stunning gold base. Upper dorsum decorated with ginger, tan and hints of mauve. Ultra-mature. Ultra-heavy. No nacre issues, which these are nearly always susceptible to. Slight natural crease (not defect) but utterly inoffensive. My last of this rare form. Graded F+++/Gem for the fussiest collector. Provenance: from my own collection. Dived on sponge in a cave system; 12m; Roe Reef, Rottnest Island, Western Australia. illustrated in Lorenz’s books: A Guide to the Gastropod Family Cypraeidae Volume 2 (pages 206 & 207) and Volume 1 (page 328).
