| Note | This EXCEPTIONAL, ULTRA-LARGE specimen is one of the FINEST specimens of the China Sea form I have ever encountered. SPECTACULAR dorsal pattern: three ultra-large, free-form principal central maculations of rich ochre-caramel, surrounded by innumerable smaller markings, all in a design of the highest aesthetic merit. Porcellaneous white ventrum. No longer readily available, with high quality examples becoming much sought after. A ‘one in a hundred’ China Sea hirasei for the Cypraeidae connoisseur. Data: East China Sea, off Wenling, Taizhou, Zhejiang Chekiang, China; upon sand/gravel substrate; 150-170 m; trawled; 2011. Size: 50.2 mm. Grading: Gem.
