| Note | Across the last few years we have worked our way through all of the outstanding specimens of this rare, exquisite, and highly prized endemic South Australian species held within the JES Collection, with all of the specimens having been of the finest possible quality, and have now arrived at the ZENITH of all of these examples with this, the LAST, LARGEST, and FINEST specimen of the JES Collection, and one of the finest of all known examples. Indeed, the nature of this EXCEPTIONAL specimen cannot be overstated. Very few examples were ever found of this size and quality. To witness such a specimen comes as a revelation when used to seeing examples of more standard size. That such an enormous specimen should also exhibit so well-formed and beautiful a pattern is a phenomenon of surpassing rarity. PERFECTION. Well-developed peripheral nodes. Not freshly collected now for decades, and obtainable only from the choicest and most important old collections, and virtually never like this. Rarely do I urge acquisition, but should a highly advanced Volutidae specialist desire a specimen of this beautiful species at the apogee of its expression, then THIS is the shell to purchase. A ‘museum piece’ of Australian conchology, now to be passed to another connoisseur of the world’s most exquisite seashells.
