NameCypraecassis coarctata - UNUSUAL WALL LIP PATTERN
Size48.4 mm, w/o

NoteUNUSUAL LIP COLORATION AND PATTERN WOOOOW!! This is the first time I can offer this kind of pattern and vivid colors. The thick unusual form wall lip appears to be so elevated that it distorts the usual design, producing elegant, dramatic banding lines that fade into a light cream-yellowish background with multiple thin bands between the thickest nodules banding going around the body. Darker brownish large spotted dorsal and ventral side with light yellowish cream background color. The ventral side shows a superb strong orange color form in the columellar lip most and inside the outer lip, stunning thick lip with multiple glossy denticles and deep fresh orange-white background color. The dorsal part is just so exquisite with phenomenal multiple kind of colors and unique designs between the dark brown elegant spotted banding. The spire present micro elegant details in pattern all around with so beautiful great effect and intact rare protoconch. The most seldom seen original operculum. These mysterious species are usually buried under the granular sand in the coastal zone, between 1m to 15m deep, but they are usually in areas where there are sea urchins to feed on them, which is what they like the most. But they are nocturnal and are rarely seen hunting during the day. Some are 1cm under the sand but in extreme cases and growth I have found them up to 30cm under the granulate sand. The incredible bright orange spectacular animal with bright colors makes you think they are dangerous. I consider this species to be rare after so many years of searching for them in their territory. They are also solitary, which makes them more difficult to find, especially when they are buried, resting or growing. F+++-Gem. Found buried 10cm in tick granulate sand between big muddy stones about 6m-7m deep. Isla Toriz, Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico. November 2025. Value for this extraordinary and unusual lip wall with pristine pattern and banding - unique seldom seen orange ventral color : 55-60 euro. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC
