| Note | ULTRA VERY RARE SPECIES!! RARE GIANT SIZE WITH EXCELLENT AND EXCEPTIONAL MUSEUM CONDITIONS!! Absent in many collections and virtually impossible to get! This is a unique and the only opportunity to get the real Cypraecassi wilmae from Mexico. It is known to be the rarest species among the five Cypraecassis genus. The species was formally described relatively recently, in 2000, by Kreipl & Alf. This species is considered to be exclusive to Secas Island, Bay of Chiriqui, Panama. Specifically, it has been recorded at depths of between 18 and 36 meters. Currently, there is still much confusion between this species and Cypraecassis coarctata, which can sometimes be variable and is confused with dwarf forms. Recently, some specimens of C. wilmae were also found in other parts of Panama and Costa Rica in shallow waters. This extremely rare specimen was found in Mexico in a muddy area at a depth of 3 to 4 meters. Without a doubt, this specimen displays most of the characteristics of this species and is very similar to some specimens in the book (Cassidae An Amazing Family of Seashells) by Kurt Kreipl and other important authors. The shell shows a extremely robust round form with a classic granulate banding, light elevated nodules, extremely thick colossal lip and columellar lip with orange fresh colors. Dark elegant brown and golden color form. Intact apex and siphon. I can say this is a masterpiece and deserve a Museum conditions. This is a crazy giant size for the species with 45mm. Probably the WRS considering that the maximum size is 38mm. Ultra rare geographically location, this is the second one I have ever found in Mexico and in my entire career. For really serious and advancer collectors and for all a researchers and scientists. Gem and rare live collected. Found buried and eating a sea urchin in mud-sand between muddy stones about 3m - 4m deep. Escollera el Eden near Laguna de Cuyutlan, Colima, Mexico. November 2025. Value for this ultra very rare species with giant size, extraordinary pattern, live taken and fresh wonderful colors : 600-1000 euro or more. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC |
