NameCypraecassis coarctata - GIANT FRESH AND ORANGE!!
Size59.6 mm, w/o
LocalityIsla Toriz, Melaque, Jal; Mexico
NoteRARE GIANT WITH STUNNING GREAT CONDITIONS AND FRESH DARK COLOR!! Dark brown large spots on dorsum with exquisite pattern. Radiant fresh coloration all around with superb large black-brown dorsal spot going from the anterior side to posterior spire side. Micro white banding spots between the thick spotted nodules all around making a band effect too. Between the ventral and dorsal part the shell shows an axial thick dark stripes, spire is just striking with clear structured surface and intact protoconch. Look at the ventral side with superb strong orange color form more dense in the columellar lip and inside the outer lip, stunning lip with multiple glossy denticles and deep fresh orange-white background color. The dorsal part is just so exquisite with phenomenal multiple kind of colors and unique designs between the dark brown elegant spotted banding. Ultra rare original operculum absent in many collections. F+++. Tiny scar near lip almost lost between the pattern, not harming this large elegant fresh beauty. These mysterious species are usually buried under the granular sand in the coastal zone, between 1m to 15m deep, but they are usually in areas where there are sea urchins to feed on them, which is what they like the most. But they are nocturnal and are rarely seen hunting during the day. Some are 1cm under the sand but in extreme cases and growth I have found them up to 30cm under the granulate sand. The incredible bright orange spectacular animal with bright colors makes you think they are dangerous. I consider this species to be rare after so many years of searching for them in their territory. They are also solitary, which makes them more difficult to find, especially when they are buried, resting or growing. Found buried 10cm in tick granulate sand between big muddy stones about 6m-7m deep. Isla Toriz, Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico. November 2025. Value for this Giant Orange, super fresh dark colors and the best stripes pattern : 55-60 euro. Good luck and Happy shelling!!! MEXICO PACIFIC
