NoteALL PRESTIGE AND SPECIAL BEAUTY IN THE FAVORITE OF PETER DANCE. Dance his shell measures only 36 mm, the shell here offered exceeds 62 mm and has a delicate pale orange pastel all over. The type of loebbeckei we here have has little or nothing to do with the broad winged shell from Dance, or with the equally broad winged frilled beauties you can see in Poppe, Poppe & Tagaro of 2014! This is the most common - but still rare - type of loebbeckei which is big and elongate in shape. It is virtually a copy of the even larger shell shown in Springsteen & Leobrera of 1986. Or the numbers 5, 9 and 10 in the plate of variation given by Merle & All in 2011. In fact, it looks almost another species. The first time I saw this type of loebbeckei was in the late 1980's when one could still make orders from Taiwanese shell dealers. Apparently the difference with the broad type is clear-cut, enough to create a form name: or there may be even genetic differences between both forms, and we then deal with two sister species. Great shell, the large type of loebbeckei. Philippines. North of Cebu. Sogod. Tangle nets, 250 m. 2018. #1080759
