| Note | This is a species that, like a few others (e.g. lurida, cinerea, aurantium etc) when freshly collected can be of very dark color, which invariably fades over time. This specimen has been no exception: just off the water it was dark purplish. The color stabilized to the actual within two years. Respectable size, beautiful globose shape, so shiny that pictures are hard to get under any light. Dived off the north shore of Oahu in 18 mt in the summer of 2008. All shadow and white marks are reflections from the camera. |
