| Note | A HISTORICAL BEAUTY, MUCH SOUGHT AFTER WHEN WELL SIZED: THE ORANGE FORM. I refer to the BROWN spectrum in this auction (129.8 mm), the sister specimen of this one. It can be added here that the cleaning of one specimen may take several hours. This brown beauty is large, superbly fringed and forms the natural addition to the orange piece here offered. No prestigious Murex collection without some BIG spectrum today, usually presented in “sets”, one orange, one brown. Today, small shells are no longer rare, and can be acquired easily and regularly. Here a rare “large” orange piece, as seldom seen. A very impressive beauty.
