| Note | This species can be found throughout Baja California, but specimens over 45 mm in top conditions are quite rare. I collected this big one in 2005 snorkeling in 2-3 mt of water just off the Posada de las Flores resort in Punta Chivato, some 40 km north of Mulegè under a medium size boulder. At the time there was a population of very big annettae in shallow water off Punta Chivato, all 45 to 50 mm. Unfortunately, most of them had growth scars and were not worth collecting. This shell is one of the best I found for combination of size, pattern and quality. Shadow and white marks are reflections from the camera. More images available. |
