| Note | Impressive form, peach/apricot tinted extremities and wonderfully golden tan speckled dorsum. Choice example of this rare Australian deep water friendii form. Remarkable specimen with characteristic convex base, depressed inflated oval body, and rounded thick margins. The shell demonstrates perfect extremities, soft ivory pigmented dorsal primary pigmentation and a porcelain white base. Notable weight to size ratio (49.7 grs) complements this excellent cowrie. Collected by ROV at 205 meters on sandy bottom in an area of sparse sponge growth southwest of Dongara, Geraldton, Western Australia in 2/2023. The shell shows minor nacre loss and growth creases on the posterior ramp and dorsal labral side, barely visible in images. The specimen was fresh dead collected. Grade: Pretty damn nice. |
