Altivasum hedleyi Ultra rare bi-colour sp
170 mm     Windy Harbour, S.w. Australia.     200,00 €
Item# 0003917555
FamilyTurbinellidae
NameAltivasum hedleyi - Ultra rare bi-colour sp , Amazing bi-colour specimen / white body swirls & pink spines.
Size170 mm
LocalityWindy Harbour, S.w. Australia.
NoteThese two Altivasum are from my own personal collection, proudly owned for many years and I was not prepared to part with them, even to the late Peter Clarkson who had an addiction to this specie. To the average collector these two Altivasum look very normal, but they are far from it. The normal specimens are very uniform in colour being white or any shade of uniform orange over the entire specimen. This second specimen has white body swirls interrupted by a soft pastel pink band between each body swirl and amazingly pastel pink main body spines. Truly unique and completely one of a kind for this specie. Fully intact with full spire and mature lip, with just a small area of erosion on the main body swirl. 99 percent of these are collected in lobster and crab pots and the condition is normally very poor, but this specimen is well above average. These two specimens are very much more appreciated in hand, the images do not do their presence justice.
