| Note | One very nice specimen of the very rare Fissurella bridgesi, one of the large species of Fissurella endemic to the southeastern Pacific. This species lives in the subtidal in very specific places, and it is found in very low numbers. This is, together with F. pulchra, the rarest Fissurella species found in Chile and PerĂº. Large Fissurella species are edible (and very tasty), and so are caught by fishermen, collected with hooks and often damaged. This particular specimen has a nice thick shell, with a very nice clean dorsum with no scurria scars or other visible damages (except some minuscule boreholes) and with some red algae which can be cleaned to displays the nice pinkish-gray color of the dorsum of the shell. The lip has some damage in its anterior part, hence the price. This is an opportunity to obtain a rare and nice specimen from a difficult-to-get species for a very low initial price. |
