| Note | One very nice an very large specimen of the very rare species Fissurella bridgesi. This species lives in the subtidal in very specific places, and it is found in very low numbers. This is, together with F. pulchra, the rarest Fissurella species found in Chile and PerĂº. Large Fissurella species are edible (and very tasty), and so are caught by fishermen, collected with hooks and often damaged. This particular specimen has a nice thick shell, with a very nice lightly cleaned dorsum which have some boring holes and some damage around the foramen, but with no Scurria scars or other damages, as can be seen in the images. It has also a very nice beveled border with no damages at all. As large Fissurella are commercially exploited in the area they are nowadays more uncommon, and this particular species is very rare. This is an opportunity to obtain a rare and nice specimen from a difficult-to-get species for a very low initial price due to the flaws in the dorsum. |
